About Deborah

My approach to transformational coaching is integrative and person-centred, meaning I work with a range of ideas and perspectives depending on what you bring to the coaching space.

Integrative coaching means that I use a range of perspectives and tools in our work, depending on what you bring to the coaching space.I do not have set programmes, and every relationship with a client is bespoke.

Person-centred coaching means that I play the role of facilitator or thinking partner, enabling you to find the answers that come from you and work for you. With coaching, however, our work is structured and goal-focused, allowing you to track progress and see results within a few sessions.

My areas of specialisation are:

Careers coaching – addressing the inner blocks and obstacles preventing you from achieving the career (and life) you want.

Work/life balance – working through problems with stress, perfectionism, overwork, to name a few.

Creativity coaching – I work with creatives on issues such as removing creative blocks, confidence and enhancing creative output or with anyone seeking ways to be more creative in their life and work.

Managing life and work with a chronic illness – Everything changes when you have a chronic illness. I help you to reflect on your best way to manage work and life as well as the emotional blocks standing in the way of you achieving a good balance. This process holds many lessons for life/work balance in general.

Development of soft skills – work/life balance, resilience, tolerance of ambiguity, emotional intelligence, self-awareness, relationships, empathy, communication, authenticity and the enhancement of creativity – vital to the successful business or working life of the present and future.

Qualifications and training:

I hold a Diploma in Transformational Coaching with Animas, a Diploma in Counselling Skills and an accredited Certificate in Positive Psychology.

I started my profession life as an artist. I then worked as a university academic, publishing several books and many articles. In my 40s, and seeking more creative fulfillment and flexibility, I became a freelance journalist and worked in communications. I now work as a transformational coach, and publish articles and books.

I am currently working towards ICF accreditation.

I offer a free one hour coaching session to begin with, so you can experience what coaching is like and see if we are a good fit.
